Strong partnership for the sport of biathlon: Biathlon World Cup Oberhof becomes partner of the Biathlon Tour
On July 1, 2025, a new chapter will begin for the Biathlon Tour: Oberhofer Sport und Event GmbH, which organizes the BMW IBU Biathlon World Cup in Oberhof, will become a partner of the world's largest public biathlon event. This will strengthen the presence of the World Cup event throughout the year.
The Biathlon Tour has a new strong partner at its side: From July 1, 2025, Oberhofer Sport und Event GmbH will be supporting the event, which has been bringing the sport of biathlon to cities and public spaces since 2015. In this year's season alone, 30 stages are planned, with Oberhof hosting the 3rd Oberhof City Biathlon on September 27, 2025.

More attention for the World Cup
For the organizers of the BMW IBU Biathlon World Cup in Oberhof, the cooperation is a matter of the heart. “The Biathlon Tour combines top-class sport with hands-on activities and manages to promote interest in the sport. For us, the collaboration is an opportunity to be even more visible in the cities and to promote our World Cup. At the same time, we benefit from the interactive offers of the Biathlon Tour, which will help to further increase the attractiveness of our World Cup. The fans can expect not only exciting competitions, but also a real winter sports experience,” says Bernd Wernicke, Managing Director of Oberhofer Sport und Event GmbH.
The partnership includes a wide range of marketing measures for the BMW IBU World Cup Biathlon in Oberhof - from the presence of the BMW IBU World Cup Biathlon in Oberhof on tour stages to advance ticket sales for the sprint races on January 8 and January 9, 2026 - with a discount campaign for the best shooters in the current competition - to joint media activities.
The aim of the cooperation is to anchor the sport of biathlon more firmly in the public sphere, even outside of the winter season. The combination of top-class sport and opportunities to join in is intended to promote interest in the sport and at the same time attract new talent. Thanks to practice sessions, spontaneous competitions and atmospheric city championships in relay format, participants can slip into the role of a top athlete free of charge and with lots of fun.
About the Biathlon Tour: With over 100,000 participants in the trial shooting and around 20,000 active competitors on more than 250 stages, the Biathlon Tour has been the world's largest public biathlon event since 2015. The 2025 season comprises 30 city stages that offer a low-threshold biathlon experience for all interested parties.
The winners of each stage will each receive two free tickets for one of the two sprint races on January 8 or January 9, 2026. They will also be able to compete for overall victory at the grand tour finale at the LOTTO Thüringen Skisport-HALLE in Oberhof in March 2026. The participants will be prepared for the competition by team Olympic champion and crowd favorite Michael Rösch and will round off the special day at the winners' party in the evening.
